Here, every tenth Butterfly will be a blue 1up Butterfly that gives Spyro an extra life! In addition, Reignited allows Sparx to eat multiple Butterflies in one bite. In Reignited, Spyro the Dragon has also aquired the Butterfly life system from Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon. Sparx will disappear and not pick up Gems after three hits, and on the fourth, Spyro will die. If you’re hurt, Sparx will eat a Butterfly to restore one hit of health, so it’s a good idea to keep note of where Fodder is in the harder levels. While they may seem valueless, if you manage to collect 20 of them, you’ll earn an extra life!īutterflies are helpful little guys who are released when you kill Fodder creatures, which are the small groups of enemies that don’t hurt you and run away when you get close like Sheep, Toads, Chickens, and so on. Pearls are a unique item that are only dropped by defeated enemies who you have already collected the Gem from. Only one of the Ballonists will require collecting Eggs to use his Balloon: Gosnold of the Magic Crafters Home, who requests you collect 5 Eggs before taking you to the Beast Makers Home. It is in these moments that you have to strike. The idea is that there's always a certain point in their circuit where they slow down a bit, or jump down a ledge. If you're playing Reignited, the Thieves will be much more difficult to catch, and thus will always require you to get close and Flame them. If you’re having trouble making contact, try Flaming when you’re very close to them, as that works just as well. Get close and they run away on a set route, but if you’re able to catch up and hit them, they’ll be defeated and drop their Egg. Eggs will be carried around by Blue Thieves in blue robes who taunt you when you’re nearby. This is especially important in the PS1 version of the game as Gems won’t be visible at large distances in that version.ĭragon Eggs are the rarest type of collectible, but they are no less required for completion.

Gems emit a bright glimmer from afar, making them easier to spot. Gems are sometimes used as currency for the Balloonists to access new Home Worlds in the Dragon Realms, but you’ll also need to collect all of them to unlock the secret level in the game and achieve 120%. Gems can come in different values depending on their colour: Red are worth 1, Green 2, Blue 5, Gold 10 and Pink 25. For ease, this walkthrough describes Gems by their colour, rather than their total value. They can be found either lying on the ground, found in Chests, dropped by enemies, or given as rewards in Flight levels. Gems, sometimes referred to as Treasure, are the most common collectible in the game, and Spyro being a Dragon and all, you’ll be finding a whole lot of them.
